Over the next 40 years the proportion of the population above the age of 65 in the European Union will almost double, rising from 17% in 2005 to 30% in 2050. Due to this inevitable demographic development, dignified ageing and caregiving is becoming an ever more relevant topic in the long-term future with regard to its social and economic implications as European healthcare systems are facing challenges of sustainability and increasing resource scarcity.

The HealthMedCare Network thus represents a network that brings together all the relevant stakeholders of the field of healthcare, pursuing the common aim of improved healthcare standards. Specifically, the network aims at bringing together all parties interested in research and development in the field. It thereby also fosters international research cooperation between research centres, universities, hospitals, national institutions etc.

The HealthMedCare Network focuses on uniting the different healthcare providers and networks to create one meta-network providing its users with information about general healthcare topics, as well as enabling interaction, dissemination and partnering amongst its members. Within that, the HealthMedCare Network provides a wide range of opportunities and channels to holistically approach topics like healthcare, hygiene, caretaking, wellness, and healthcare technology.

The purpose of the HealthMedCare Network is a metanetwork of experts is to share knowledge, exchange experiences and come to mutual agreements in the field of healthcare. We focus on innovation, the next big trends and relevant topics in all healthcare related issues, as well as on uniting medcare networks to create one meta-network.

This network itself consists of stakeholders as well as researchers, creating a community of users as an evaluating instance. In addition to that, our members are actively integrated into running projects and events, to further expand the interaction and development.

The HealthMedCare Network pursues collaborative research along a broad research agenda. On the one hand, the agenda comprises ever-present issues such as the improvement of healthcare standards and most adequate care and nursing measures. On the other hand, the agenda also includes topical developments which call for thorough analysis. Healthy ageing and care for older adults, as well as wellness or medicinal products. Another big issue is cybersecurity in healthcare which is connected to many modern criminal activities.

The ultimate goal of the network is to positively impact the international society. Via effective research and development of innovative solutions, safety will be put onto another level in order to fit today’s needs and standards.
